Swept command enhancement in SOLIDWORKS 2017

Swept command enhancement in SOLIDWORKS 2017

The sweep feature in SolidWorks has been improving from year to year, as all of us known that sweep feature require at least two sketches to be selected, one for path and another for sketch profile. Earlier, from the customer request, Dassault Systemes SolidWorks added the option of circular profile to make sweep feature easy by only one sketch for full path. But still if the profile is other than circle, it needs extra sketch to be done or else to perform it in a better way is to convert from the existing face or edges.

Sweep command in SOLIDWORKS

The enhancement in the SOLIDWORKS Swept feature removes the convert entities from the existing face. Now you can directly select the face or edges as the sweep profiles.

The following images show you how to use the sweep feature using edges as sketch profile

Sweep feature in SOLIDWORKS Overview:

In the above images the edge and the face of an existing model can be used to run the sweep command. In this case, swept boss is selected from toolbar. In the property manager, under the profile and path, sketch profile is selected. At this stage the face or edge of the existing body can be selected for a profile.
