SOLIDWORKS Composer Depth of field option
As world is moving towards portrait modes for better clarity of images taken, it’s time to change the perspective of marketing images as well to give a better focus on the components/ items that people manufactures/design .
Unless and until a great way of marketing/intuitive image of the product is in hand, all the effort goes in vain if that hasn’t been taken care of. But don’t worry SOLIDWORKS composer gives you that edge to create all those advanced marketing images easy, quick and intuitive.
Let’s first import the model into the composer interface
- Once imported, Enable the Depth of field option available under Render Tab. Set the focal point by clicking the Set focal point and by placing it on the desired location as if on the front wheel in the below image.
2. Once that is done on the deep right down side a perspective icon will be shown. Activate the perspective mode by clicking on it as Depth of field works only when perspective mode is on as it gives a good aspect focus on the items when placed the view in.
3. Now let’s quickly change some options to apply the depth of field for our model by going to Preferences option under file open on top left corner.
4. In application preferences -> View port -> High quality rendering/on demand -> depth of field. Change the depth of field to on idle with use document settings, click apply and ok.
5. Come back to workspace area, you’ll see you depth of field/focus applied to the area where we gave point of focus. One can change the area of focus anywhere in the workspace to get desired output at desired location.
Also one can change the level of depth/it’s intensity by changing the level option which will be found in properties tab , under depth of field which also gives the option for us to adjust the number of passes as well.
