With the new release of SOLIDWORKS, we continue to push the boundaries of innovation to meet your requirements & improve the design experience. Parts & Features are essential and utilized by anyone who is using SOLIDWORKS.
In this blog, we will deep dive and focus more on the new enhancements in SOLIDWORKS 2024 with respect to Parts & Features.
Bounding Box:
First, every designer could have come across situations where the bar stock size of cylindrical/conical design components may be required and wouldn’t have been able to calculate it with the bounding box feature in previous releases. But, with SOLIDWORKS 2024, this is addressed, and you could quickly get to know the bar stock size of turned components, too, rather than just prismatic.
Dimension Preview & Hole Wizard:
Also, we have two important updates here i.e. Dimension Preview & Hole Wizard improvements. These will be more favourable in your design experience because just by simply selecting an entity, dimension can be previewed & value can be added, and using the existing 2D sketch, we can create the whole instances and skip them too.
Revolved Cut with Flip side option
In the previous releases, you would have cut the components outside the sketch selection under Extruded Cut. This has been extended to Revolved Cut with flip side option to change the scope of cut in your design.
Symmetric Pattern
No more, we require to select additional directions, dimensions or instances, to create pattern. Using the Symmetric pattern option under the linear pattern, you can reduce time & effort involved.
Make Multi-body Part
Make multi-body part from your assemblies/sub-assemblies to carry out post-assembly operations. The link can be broken from the parent file, and selection (solid/surface/reference geometry/material) can be done when exporting parts. This feature benefits us with more accurate Mass Properties information that we otherwise wouldn’t be able to get from in a scenario when creating a weld feature inside the initial subassembly file.
We believe that these updates will improve your day-to-day design experience. Do reach out to us to learn more about SOLIDWORKS 2024 and what the new enhancements are.
