SOLIDWORKS What’s New 2018: Sketching

SOLIDWORKS What’s New 2018: Sketching

Sketches are the fundamental building blocks of any SOLIDWORKS design; therefore you need the tools to be as intuitive and productive as possible. SOLIDWORKS 2018 builds on existing sketch workflows adding new capabilities for customers working with 3D sketches, and more flexibility when modifying arcs and Splines. Let take a closer look:

Flip Tangency Direction:

You can now flip the tangency direction of curved entities such as arcs and splines.
To do so right click on the respective arc or spline and select Reverse Endpoint Tangent on the shortcut menu. This reverses the tangency and flips the arc or spline.

Mirrored Entities in 3D sketch:

When working with 3D sketches, mirror entities tool can now be used to build symmetry sketches by using mirror entities.
2

Reference Planes and Planar faces as Mirror plane:

When working with 2D sketches, mirroring sketch entities was only about linear entities such as lines or edges. Now we can make use of Reference plane and planar model faces to achieve the same.

All these new capabilities in 2018 make working with sketch geometry easier and even more intuitive.
