Customize the reports in SOLIDWORKS Electrical
This blog will explain about how to customize your reports to get the output as per need by changing what columns are displayed, also how to sort and break the columns into sections that can more exactly represent your specific project.
To access your reports from open project, click on Project tab and click on Reports. This brings up the Report Manager.
Now you can add a new report, or edit an existing report. In this example I will edit the Bill of Materials (BOM) as I need the parts to display the current rating of relevant components so procurement can purchase the exact component. Also want to sort it by location wise so that procurement can exactly calculate the costs per location to coexist with the quotation on the project.
To create this I’ll click on the BoM and select Properties to open the Report Configuration box. To edit the Columns I will select this tab and click the Column Configuration button (below fig).
From this you can select required columns to display, here I know Value 1 is the current rating of component so I’ll select the Value 1 column & press ok, and then apply.
Now in order to re-arrange the BoM to display as desired, click on Sort and Break tab. I need the components to be sorted by location, so in this case I’ll put ‘Location identifier’ “com_loc_id” into the right side, check in “Break” and move this to the top. Then it will sort the components by location first, and break the table where the location of the components differs.
Finally the result is a clear report showing everything we wanted to change:
Although SOLIDWORKS Electrical makes it easy to generate basic reports straight out of the box, as you can see it’s a simple methods to customize these to suit your projects.
I hope this blog will help you out to create or customize your own reports in SOLIDWORKS Electrical.
