With the latest enhancement in SOLIDWORKS 2024, we can save files to the previous versions, which are 2023 and 2022. This will allow us to work in the most recent version of SOLIDWORKS while also working with customers who are using previous versions.
Initially, save the file in the most recent version of SOLIDWORKS 2024, then select the “pack and go” option and modify the version to the required lower version. Take a look at the attached image for reference.
But, when you are saving SOLIDWORKS files to the previous version, you may encounter an error or SOLIDWORKS might crash as shown in the below image.
However, when you save SOLIDWORKS files to a lower version, you might get an error or SOLIDWORKS may crash, as shown in the image below.
To resolve this error, the Dassault Systèmes Team has provided a HotFix, click on the below link to get the HotFix
- Download the HotFix and save it in the desired locations

Unzip the application and run it as an administrator
After the installation, click on finish
Using the “pack & go” save the file to a previous version, we can now see that the files will be successfully saved without any errors or crashes.
Conclusion:-
To Save As the files with the pack and go to the older version successfully in the latest version of SOLIDWORKS, we need to install the supporting HotFix in the system.
