In certain circumstances, it may be necessary to transfer the license from the current system to enable activation on a different computer. This transfer process is commonly required in scenarios such as hardware replacement, system upgrades, or device reassignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Transferring a <strong>SOLIDWORKS Standalone license<\/strong> may be necessary under the following circumstances:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Switching between a desktop and a laptop<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Purchasing or replacing a computer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Performing significant hardware changes (such as installing a new hard drive)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reformatting the computer or reinstalling the operating system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Before transferring, verify which serial number you are about to deactivate.<br>Go to<strong> Help > About SOLIDWORKS.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div activation from the current computer, a deactivation process will need to take place.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on the version of SOLIDWORKS you are using, this may be located in different places in the Help menu when SOLIDWORKS is open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>SOLIDWORKS 2020 and newer will be under <strong>Help > Licenses > Deactivate\u2026<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For SOLIDWORKS 2020 SP3 and newer, the Help menu is now the \u201c?\u201d in the top right.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure prompted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Copy the file to a computer with internet access and email it to <strong>activation@solidworks.com<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will receive a reply within about 10 minutes with a <em><strong>Response<\/strong><\/em><strong> file.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Copy this file back to the SOLIDWORKS computer, repeat the Manual Deactivation process, and select
