This meant that the Base Flange had to be drawn precisely where it was needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This created additional steps for many sheet metal users, especially when they were working on complex assemblies or reference geometry:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Creating extra planes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Repositioning sketches<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Changing the reference geometry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rebuilding features more than once<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This process consumed unnecessary design time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u2019s New in SOLIDWORKS 2026? \u2013 Base Flange<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With SOLIDWORKS 2026, the Base Flange command is now more flexible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can now:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create a sketch on any plane or surface<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Define the offset using:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A specific distance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Up to a selected surface<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These new options simplify design work and enable more powerful design intent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Open the <a href=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/solidworks-3d-cad\/\">SOLIDWORKS<\/a> assembly or part file and select the sketch required for the Base Flange feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to Sheet Metal &gt; Base Flange\/Tab. The sheet metal feature will be generated at the specified offset location instead of directly on the sketch plane.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This enhancement in <strong>SOLIDWORKS 2026<\/strong> provides greater flexibility in sheet metal design, reduces the need for additional reference planes, and increases modeling productivity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For sheet metal designers, the new Base Flange enhancement in SOLIDWORKS 2026 is a small but significant improvement.
