It also offers additional options such as Rename, Replace, and Move \u2013 making it easier to manage files without breaking references with parts, assemblies or drawings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Typically, Submenu includes below options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pack and Go<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rename<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Replace<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Move<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>File locations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Submenu can be accessed easily by right-clicking on the SOLIDWORKS file in Windows 10. In the File Explorer window opened, Navigate to the following folder to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>C:\\Program Files\\SOLIDWORKS Corp XXXX\\SOLIDWORKS\\ &#8211; for the SOLIDWORKS versions 2023 or below.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\SOLIDWORKS Shared\\ &#8211; for the SOLIDWORKS versions 2024 and above.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Select the file \u2018swShellFileLauncher.exe\u2019. Then click Open and OK to confirm your selection.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"571\" height=\"379\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/image-21.png\" alt=\"Select the file \u2018swShellFileLauncher.exe\u2019. Repeat the same process for Assembly (.sldasm) and Drawing (.slddrw) files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Method -3: Re-registering the File Extensions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the registry keys are corrupted, missing or incorrectly configured, the SOLIDWORKS submenu may not appear. Editing or repairing the registry can help re-register, ensuring that Windows correctly displays the SOLIDWORKS submenu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Open the Registry Editor by launching it as an Administrator from the Windows Start menu. Then, navigate to the path specified below. Locate the registry keys associated with SOLIDWORKS file types and either rename or delete them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\FileExts\\.sldasm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\FileExts\\.sldprt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\FileExts\\.slddrw<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\SldPart.Document<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\SldAssem.Document<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\SldDraw.Document<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\.sldprt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\.sldasm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\.slddrw<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"685\" height=\"184\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/image-22.png\" alt=\"Re-registering the File Extensions\" class=\"wp-image-43036\" style=\"width:536px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/image-22.png 685w, https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/image-22-300x81.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 685px) 100vw, 685px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Open Command Prompt in the Administrator mode and run below commands to register .dll files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>regsvr32 &#8220;C: \\ Program Files \\ Common Files \\ SOLIDWORKS Shared \\ swdocumentmgr.dll&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>regsvr32 &#8220;C: \\ Program Files \\ Common Files \\ SOLIDWORKS Shared \\ sldwinshellextu.dll&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>regsvr32 &#8220;C: \\ Program Files \\ Common Files \\ SOLIDWORKS Shared \\ sldwinshellextu.dll \/u&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>regsvr32 &#8220;C: \\ Program Files \\ SOLIDWORKS Corp 2023 \\ SOLIDWORKS \\s ldthumbnailprovider.dll&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"588\" height=\"345\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/image-23.png\" alt=\"Open Command Prompt in the Administrator mode and run below commands to register .dll files.\" class=\"wp-image-43037\" style=\"width:438px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/image-23.png 588w, https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/image-23-300x176.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 588px) 100vw, 588px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Repair the SOLIDWORKS installation and restart the system to update the changes performed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Method -4: Incomplete or Corrupted Installation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An incomplete installation of SOLIDWORKS or software corruption &#8211; potentially caused by the background processes or system restrictions may result in the disappearance of the SOLIDWORKS submenu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In such cases, we recommend you to perform a clean uninstallation of SOLIDWORKS. This involves removing all associated files and folders, program directories, registry entries, and Visual C++ redistributables related to SOLIDWORKS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After completing the uninstallation, restart the system to apply the changes. Then, proceed with a fresh installation of <a href=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/solidworks-3d-cad\/\">SOLIDWORKS<\/a> using a clean setup file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Method -5: Windows Conflicts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Windows update or upgrade can disrupt SOLIDWORKS Shell File integration with Windows File Explorer, causing the submenu to disappear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To identify and resolve potential Windows system corruption, run the System File Checker by opening Command Prompt in Elevated Mode (Run as Administrator) and executing the following command: <strong>sfc \/scannow<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"644\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/image-24.png\" alt=\"Windows Conflicts\" class=\"wp-image-43038\" style=\"width:424px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/image-24.png 644w, https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/image-24-300x175.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 644px) 100vw, 644px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>If the issue does not resolved yet, verify further and determine whether it is specific to the current Windows user profile by logging in as an Administrator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If the issue does not occur in the Administrator Login, consider deleting the existing user profile and creating a new user account with sufficient permissions to run SOLIDWORKS.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the issue does occur even when logged in as Administrator, a system format or OS (Operating System) reinstallation may be necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The methods outlined above should effectively resolve the issue.
