If runners are not properly balanced, some cavities generally fill faster than the others, leading to inconsistencies in the quality, scrap and production inefficiencies.&nbsp; So, achieving perfect runner balancing is key. To achieve the same, proper runner design, gate placement and flow analysis play a vital role in ensuring the uniform fill across all cavities. In this blog, we will explore the basics of Runner Balancing in Multi-Cavity Molds, why it is crucial to achieve optimal mold performance, and how we can benefit from <a href=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/solidworks-plastics\/\">SOLIDWORKS Plastics<\/a> Simulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Benefits of Runner Balancing:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Optimizes fill time by ensuring multiple cavities are filled at the same time<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Helps in uniform shrinkage of components, so it matches the component\u2019s fit &amp; finish.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to carry out Runner Balancing for existing runners in Multi-Cavity Study:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once we have created the cold\/hot runner in our plastics simulation study and meshed the component, we have the Runner Balancing option under Mesh options.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"671\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-35.png\" alt=\"How to carry out Runner Balancing for existing runners in Multi-Cavity Study\" class=\"wp-image-41630\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-35.png 671w, https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-35-300x161.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 671px) 100vw, 671px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The runner balancing automatically finds the best balance for the runner diameters to have an equal flow in each cavity. Under the Runner Balancing dialog box, we can input the parameters, such as the maximum number of iterations to be carried out. &amp; min. Diameter (overall and inlets). Based on these parameters, the solver finds a suitable runner design.
