{"id":40802,"date":"2024-08-09T14:06:20","date_gmt":"2024-08-09T08:36:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/?p=40802"},"modified":"2024-08-09T14:09:15","modified_gmt":"2024-08-09T08:39:15","slug":"solidworks-flow-simulation-solver-stuck-at-preparing-model","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/solidworks-flow-simulation-solver-stuck-at-preparing-model\/","title":{"rendered":"SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation Solver Stuck at \u201cPreparing Model\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/flow-simulation\/\">SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation<\/a> is a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solution available with <a href=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/solidworks-3d-cad\/\">SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD<\/a> that enables quick and easy simulation of liquid and gas flows through and around your designs for different engineering scenarios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"613\" height=\"369\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Image-1-Flow-Simulation.png\" alt=\"Preparing Model : SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation\" class=\"wp-image-40803\" style=\"width:683px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Image-1-Flow-Simulation.png 613w, https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Image-1-Flow-Simulation-300x181.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 613px) 100vw, 613px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most common issues that we came across with SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation is the solver getting stuck at \u201cPreparing Model\u201d state for hours and never finishes \u2018Meshing in progress\u2019 step irrespective of model size, complexity and project setup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cause:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Firewall or Antivirus installed in the system might be blocking certain processes with respect to SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Solution:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Check and confirm if the issue occurs for all the Flow Simulation Projects before proceeding with below steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the issue found to be system or environment specific, reach out the IT Team and have the Administrator to check below parameters:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Checking the activity logs of the software<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adjusting settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contacting the third-party software vendor<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Check if any Windows or Software update performed recently. It is possible that the software update altered the security settings in the system. If so, modify the system security settings to enable Flow Simulation and FloXpress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check the TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) activity for Flow Simulation executable file \u201c<strong>efdsolver.exe<\/strong>\u201d. Access the TCP activity from the Windows Resource Monitor as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In Windows search type \u201c<strong>Resource Monitor<\/strong>\u201d.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open the application and expand the tab \u201c<strong>Network<\/strong>\u201d.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify the TCP activity for \u201c<strong>efdsolver.exe<\/strong>\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"537\" height=\"292\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-7.png\" alt=\"efdsolver.exe\" class=\"wp-image-40807\" style=\"width:537px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-7.png 537w, https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-7-300x163.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 537px) 100vw, 537px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><em>[Note: Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is a communications standard which allows application, programs and devices to exchange information over the network.]<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adjust the settings of security software on the system and allow Simulation and FloXpress processes access to the TCP protocol. The processes are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>efdsolver.exe<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>dispatcher.exe<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Before proceeding with the above mentioned activity, the IT Administrator can consult with the respective authorities and the security software suppliers. If it is not possible to alter the Firewall and Antivirus settings in the system, kindly perform the below settings in SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation, perform the project setup and hit \u201c<strong>Run<\/strong>\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"621\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-8.png\" alt=\"In SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation, perform the project setup and hit \u201cRun\u201d.\" class=\"wp-image-40808\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-8.png 621w, https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-8-300x174.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 621px) 100vw, 621px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>2.
