However, when analyzing assemblies such as cabinet and control panels with cables and wires, <a href=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/flow-simulation\/\">SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation<\/a> fails to mesh smaller components such as cables, relays and MCBs. In such cases, Flow Simulation may not indicate that there is an error with meshing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In these cases, one must visualize with mesh cut plots to ensure that mesh has been captured for all the solid components in the assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below is the image representing CAD and missing mesh for some components.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"624\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image.png\" alt=\"CAD Assembly with Cables and Connectors\" class=\"wp-image-40792\" style=\"width:624px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image.png 624w, https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-300x188.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 624px) 100vw, 624px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"624\" height=\"396\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-1.png\" alt=\"meshing error - holes in the mesh\" class=\"wp-image-40793\" style=\"width:624px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-1.png 624w, https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-1-300x190.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 624px) 100vw, 624px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>As observed in the above image, the user will not be able to visualize meshing for certain components, and in turn the solver will not solve this analysis due to a meshing error. This type of meshing error is sometimes called <em>holes in the mesh.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The solution for this is to activate Preprocessor Boolean or Mesh Boolean in SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation 2023 and later versions. This option is found in Wizard > General Settings > Analysis Type >Geometry Recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"624\" height=\"423\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-2.png\" alt=\"Improved Geometry Handling in SOLIDWORKS Flow Wizard\" class=\"wp-image-40794\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-2.png 624w, https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-2-300x203.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 624px) 100vw, 624px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>With this activated, the software uses advanced functions to perform Boolean operations on the geometry, this option makes use of SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation&#8217;s own Boolean operation functions instead of the SOLIDWORKS CAD functions.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"624\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-4.png\" alt=\"Resolved meshing issue with Preprocessing Boolean\" class=\"wp-image-40796\" style=\"width:624px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-4.png 624w, https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/image-4-300x192.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 624px) 100vw, 624px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>This functionality was introduced in SOLIDWORKS 2018, and it was earlier called improved geometry handling. However, in certain cases where cables and relays are present in an assembly, meshing problems arise where cells are missing in the mesh, as seen in\u00a0<strong>Cut Plots<\/strong>. This type of problem is sometimes called\u00a0<em>holes in the mesh<\/em>.
