Smart Components are those frequently used components that may be required in assemblies. Examples of some of the Smart components in <a href=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/solidworks-3d-cad\/\">SOLIDWORKS<\/a> used in assemblies are as follows:\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A connector with mounting screws, nuts, screw holes, and a cut-out\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A retaining ring with a groove\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A motor with bolts and mounting holes\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Door handle with mounting screws and holes\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The reason why these components are termed \u201csmart components\u201d is because, when these components are placed in the assemblies, they bring in all the information of the associated\/linked components and features along with them. Hence, the time required to add the additional components and features is avoided.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The general steps involved in using the smart component are:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"1\">\n<li>Create the smart component by creating the assembly consisting of the component and features to be included using the \u201cMake Smart Component\u201d option <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"blob:https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/cc762e9e-c734-48f0-9ca1-555cf1b5e478\"> is available in the Assembly module.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Save the assembly consisting of the smart component after making the selections.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Insert the smart component into the required assembly and position the component by adding the required mates.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Invoke the smart feature by clicking on the \u201cThunder bolt\u201d icon.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide the appropriate references to add the associated components and features.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Here, we take the example of a door handle, which is a simple yet frequently used component in assemblies.&nbsp;The handle is to be converted as smart component by linking to the screws (associated components) and the holes(features).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The various steps involved in the conversion to a smart handle are as follows.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The assembly is created by adding the handle as the component into the plate with holes and is located in position using mates.
