We typically end up with bundles of files that need to be zipped and unzipped, as well as file suffixes like &#8220;-version2_done_withEdits_FINAL,&#8221; when we share an assembly with an outside partner. Assembly files may be tracked, and which ones can be edited or read only by importing packages, which also store them all in one location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Import Package with 3DEXPERIENCE Exchange Add-In\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/73Uowjx33ug?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>SOLIDWORKS Package File<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The SOLIDWORKS Package File has the extension \u201c.sldpkg\u201d. You can use one of these products to import this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>SOLIDWORKS Connected (<a href=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/3dexperience-solidworks-3\/\">3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/solidworks-3d-cad\/\">SOLIDWORKS<\/a> with the free \u201c3DEXPERIENCE Exchange\u201d add-in<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The package file tracks which files have been modified and includes all the necessary components to access the&nbsp;&#8220;packaged&#8221;&nbsp;assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Import a Package with 3DEXPERIENCE Exchange for SOLIDWORKS<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>First, verify that SOLIDWORKS&#8217; &#8220;3DEXPERIENCE Exchange&#8221; Add-in is enabled.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"335\" height=\"463\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/image-5.png\" alt=\"3DEXPERIENCE Exchange&quot; Add-in \" class=\"wp-image-40579\" style=\"width:335px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/image-5.png 335w, https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/image-5-217x300.png 217w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 335px) 100vw, 335px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>2. To access the &#8220;.sldpkg&#8221; file you received, click the &#8220;Open&#8221; icon in the &#8220;Import Package&#8221; Window. The window on the right will display files that can be modified or are set to read-only when the package has been imported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Editing Files inside of Package<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that the package has been imported, you can right-click and open any of the files in the <strong>3D<\/strong>EXPERIENCE Exchange task pane. They will be saved to the local working folder that was mentioned in Step 3 above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Export Package<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Select Package, Export when you&#8217;re prepared to send the revised package back to the sender.
