Let&#8217;s look at what&#8217;s new in the drawings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. Chain Dimensioning<\/strong>: Chain dimensions can be used to build a stack of dimensions that are relative to each previous feature. These dimensions are now collinearly aligned, reducing otherwise manual clean-up processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"634\" height=\"443\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-2.png\" alt=\"Chain Dimensioning\" class=\"wp-image-40178\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-2.png 634w, https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-2-300x210.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 634px) 100vw, 634px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A new system option automatically offsets dimension text in tight spots where there may be overlap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"643\" height=\"415\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-3.png\" alt=\"Chain Dimensioning in SOLIDWORKS 2024\" class=\"wp-image-40179\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-3.png 643w, https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-3-300x194.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 643px) 100vw, 643px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Highlighting Reference Entities<\/strong> Finding out what entities a dimension attaches to on a cluttered 2D drawing can be challenging. Simply hovering over a reference dimension will now highlight the items attached to it, whether they are model edges, construction geometry, or vertices. This helps to improve drawing clarity and allows users to carry your design intent from model to drawing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"596\" height=\"385\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-4.png\" alt=\"Highlighting Reference Entities\" class=\"wp-image-40180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-4.png 596w, https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-4-300x194.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 596px) 100vw, 596px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>3. <strong>Highlighting Overridden Dimensions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We may need to override a dimension from time to time manually, and we can do this right from the Property Manager. Overridden dimensions in SOLIDWORKS 2024 can now be highlighted with a user-specified colour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"738\" height=\"479\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-5.png\" alt=\"Highlighting Overridden Dimensions\" class=\"wp-image-40181\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-5.png 738w, https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-5-300x195.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 738px) 100vw, 738px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A document property controls this behaviour. The right mouse menu makes restoring one or more overridden values simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-6.png\" alt=\"Highlighting Overridden Dimensions\" class=\"wp-image-40182\" width=\"526\" height=\"288\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. Keep the Link to Property Open<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adding multiple properties to the drawing view was time-consuming in prior SOLIDWORKS versions. The Link to Property dialogue stays open in this release, allowing users to generate text strings of many property links. This is a huge time saver when it comes to creating compound notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"715\" height=\"462\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-7.png\" alt=\"Keep the Link to Property Open\" class=\"wp-image-40183\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-7.png 715w, https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-7-300x194.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 715px) 100vw, 715px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The custom property information is automatically updated if we change the model configuration for this drawing view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5. Reattach Dangling Dimensions: <\/strong>Some of our reference dimensions were dangling when we updated the model configuration on the drawing views.
