In SOLIDWORKS 2016 if you use a swept flange with cuts in the bend area, the cuts are mapped correctly to the flattened geometry.The two images below show the difference between the 2015 and 2016 versions.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<div style=\"width: 50%; float: left;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13652\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/post2-300x190.jpg\" alt=\"SOLIDWORKS Sheet Metal Flattened in Solidworks\" width=\"300\" height=\"190\" data-id=\"13652\" \/><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 50%; float: right;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13653\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/post3-300x190.jpg\" alt=\"solidworks sheet metal - flattened in SOLIDWORKS\" width=\"300\" height=\"190\" data-id=\"13653\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h2>Edge Flanges<\/h2>\n<div><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You can now create edge flanges that are longer than the edge to which they are attached. Inolder versions of SOLIDWORKS this would have resulted in an invalid sketch and would of needed multiple feature to work around the problem.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-aling: justify;\">In SOLIDWORKS 2016 if you create an edge flange (Insert &gt; Sheet Metal &gt; Edge Flange), and select Edit Flange Profile, you are able to drag each vertical sketch segment so they extend beyond the adjoining sheet metal edge. The images below show this workflow.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-aling: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13665 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2.png\" alt=\"Solidworks Sheet metal Edge flanges\" width=\"800\" height=\"216\" data-id=\"13665\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Using Flattened Mass<\/h2>\n<div><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Now in SOLIDWORKS 2016 for sheet metal parts, you can choose Flattened-Mass in the Cut-List Properties and Summary Information dialog boxes.
