Sometimes while designing components we find that there are many commonly used files, parts, or library features.<\/p>\n

To speed up our design process we can add these commonly used files to Design Library. In this blog we will show you how to add file locations to the design library.<\/p>\n

Method 1:<\/h3>\n

We will start by locating the Design Library in the UI.<\/p>\n

The Design Library can be accessed through the task pane which is located towards the right side of the SOLIDWORKS UI as shown in below image<\/p>\n

To add a new file location click the \"Untitled-2\"<\/a>\u201dAdd File Location\u201d icon in the Design Library pane.<\/p>\n

Once the Icon is clicked a Windows Explorer Dialog Box opens as shown below<\/p>\n

Browse through the Windows Explorer and select the folder which contains the required files. Click OK.<\/p>\n

\"Solidworks<\/a><\/p>\n

The Selected folder and all the Sub Folders under it will be added to the Design Library.<\/p>\n

Method 2:<\/h3>\n

We can also add the file Location as shown below
\nClick \"1\" \u201dOptions\u201d or In Tools>Options as shown in below image<\/p>\n

Under \u201cSystem Options\u201d select \u201cFile locations\u201d and Browse through Show
\nfolders and Select \u201cDesign Library\u201d as shown in below image.<\/p>\n

\"3\"<\/p>\n

Click \u201cAdd\u201d and a Windows Explorer Dialog Box opens.
\nBrowse through the Windows Explorer and select the folder which contains the
\nrequired files. Click \u201cOK\u201d.<\/p>\n

\"4\"<\/p>\n

Click \u201cOK\u201d again if prompted Click \u201cYes\u201d.<\/p>\n

\"<\/p>\n

You can check in Design Library pane that the file location has been added.<\/p>\n

\"solidworks<\/p>\n

Hence by using one of above methods the commonly used files are accessible
