{"id":19675,"date":"2019-07-17T11:37:22","date_gmt":"2019-07-17T11:37:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/?p=19675"},"modified":"2022-04-25T17:01:23","modified_gmt":"2022-04-25T11:31:23","slug":"create-slot-mate-solidworks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/create-slot-mate-solidworks\/","title":{"rendered":"Create Slot Mate in SOLIDWORKS"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Slot Mate in SOLIDWORKS<\/h2>\n<p>The requirements for creating a Slot Mate in <a href=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/solidworks-3d-cad\/\">SOLIDWORKS<\/a> are:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-left: 30px; font-size: 15px; color: #000;\">\n<li>\n<p>The slot sides be parallel for straight slots and concentric for radial slot<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The slot radii are equal.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Since it is based on cylindrical references , only shaft-type parts can utilize this option<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Slots that are not supported are those which have one or more square ends, slots that contain straight and curve sections, as well as slots that break over the edge of a part.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18076\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/slot1.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Let us try the slot mate for the below components.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"margin-left: 30px; font-size: 15px; color: #000;\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol style=\"margin-left: 30px; font-size: 15px; color: #000;\">\n<li style=\"margin: 10px 0px;\">Go to mates -&gt; Mechanical Mates -&gt; Slot Mates.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The constraints which are available for the slot mate are: free, Centered in Slot, Distance along slot, and Percent along slot. Let\u2019s try each of them<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18076 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/slot2.jpg\" alt=\"Center in Slot \" width=\"672\" height=\"476\" \/><\/p>\n<ol style=\"margin-left: 30px; font-size: 15px; color: #000;\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol style=\"margin-left: 30px; font-size: 15px; color: #000;\">\n<li style=\"margin: 10px 0px;\">Case 1: <b>Center in slot<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Select any cylindrical face and any face on the slot for mating. Then select center in slot option from constraints drop down tab and give OK.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18076 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/slot3.jpg\" alt=\"Distance along slot\" width=\"672\" height=\"489\" \/><\/p>\n<ol style=\"margin-left: 30px; font-size: 15px; color: #000;\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol style=\"margin-left: 30px; font-size: 15px; color: #000;\">\n<li style=\"margin: 10px 0px;\">Case 2: <b>Distance along slot<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In this case select the bore of the washer and any face on the slot for mating. Then select Distance along slot from constraints drop down tab and specify the distance (In this case 10mm). Reverse the distance direction if required.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18076 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ckonnect.in\/solidworks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/slot4.jpg\" alt=\"Percentage along slot\" width=\"672\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<ol style=\"margin-left: 30px; font-size: 15px; color: #000;\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol style=\"margin-left: 30px; font-size: 15px; color: #000;\">\n<li style=\"margin: 10px 0px;\">Case 2: <b>Percentage along slot<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In this case, select the axis of the pin and any face on the slot for mating. Then select Percentage along with slot from constraints drop-down tab and specify the percentage (In this case 20%).
